TANK Space

FullSizeRenderDrawn To The Inside
An Installation by Hedwige Jacobs

March 11 – April 23, 2017

Opening Reception: April 13, 2017 | 6 – 8 PM

The idea of standing in front of the window and looking in from the outside inspired me to grab this opportunity to cover the inside with my hand drawn woven pattern.

Creating this little personal world where the weaving starts at some point and ends with a knot at the end. The organic impression of the woven pattern creates a new relationship, perhaps a temporary cognitive dissonance. As for a short moment, the viewer is visually tricked.
In all of my drawings, I draw upon a lexicon of imagery that I have been developing over the past years. Images are used, recycled and thrown out but they never leave my memory. They are part of a personal language that is continuously evolving and growing. ¬†It is what I call my “alphabet”. They usually have organic elements in them such as the woven structures that are regularly featured in my work.

The TANK Space is a small experimental art space in the Spring Street Studios Building dedicated as an installation space for visual artists. The gallery typically schedules one and two-month installations.
